Industrial label pricing and performance depend on much more than artwork. The surface, exposure conditions, size, material and quantity all affect the requirement.
Start with final size and artwork
Provide width, height, shape and artwork. Vector files are preferred where available. If the label is being recreated from an existing item, include a straight-on photo and measured dimensions.
Describe the surface
Painted metal, powder coat, smooth plastic, textured plastic and other substrates can behave differently with adhesives. State the actual surface rather than simply asking for “strong adhesive.”
Describe the environment
Outdoor UV, moisture, heat, cold, oils, cleaners, abrasion and chemical exposure can affect material and overlaminate choices.
Identify compliance requirements
If the label must meet a customer drawing, regulatory rule, listing or material specification, include that requirement explicitly. The supplier should not infer certification from a generic label description.
Quote realistic quantities
Provide the production quantity and any expected repeat volume. Setup and production methods can make price-per-label change significantly with quantity.
